Yes, friends... this is going to be our last visit in Ireland... sad, isn't it? here everybody is excited to come back but me.... :-((( anyway, the last day visit has been a blast! we went and visited Flota Wildlife park, full of animals (lions, tigers, cheetah, pandas, wild pigs, rhinos, kangoroos, giraffes, etc.. etc...) as you can image, our kids had complained a lot about the visit ... ja! they didn't want to leave the place.. jajja
.bufff!! no volien marxar!! jajaja
we are almost over... buahhhhhhh.... this is really sad! today we hadn't got any specific plan, just to meet with our lovely Escolà-Llarden family for a bye bye party. They are heading tomorrow to Dublin and we are not going to see each other since once back in Lleida! so, in the afternoon, before the meeting, Ioland and the kids went for a walk to one of the thousands trails that there are around! well.. let's say it was funny, it would be a good way to describe it because the path was really, really nice but, I guess the three of us walking for it was not a good idea since, we got easily scared of every sound.. jeejejje... it was nice but let's say it was short! OMG 😝
Hola,
OMG 😝
This was our last long journey with Escolà-Llarden family, both decided to try another of these wonderful scenic drives that you find everywhere in Ireland. In fact, we combined two of them: the copper coastal drive + the Vee drive. What can we explain? amazing views, great pictures, unforgettable landscape, from Dungarvan to Lismore castle, from Lismore to Waterford.. just wonderful. See for yourself!!!
Eii hola a tothom,
Jutgeu vosaltres mateixos!
today, not a good day... I've spent my whole morning in Mercedes Benz checking on the car. We got a warning coming back from Dublín so we wanted to be sure everything was ok, at the end, fortunately, nothing serious but a precious morning flew away... :-(
Anyway, we kind of compensate it by going to play bowling in Kilkenny during the afternoon, we had a blast! sooo muchhh funnnnn!! you have to watch Pere jr. video.. hilarious!
enjoyyyy
Hola amicsss,
today is Sunday and we have visited Dublín with the excuse of picking up the girls (who were staying there since yesterday). Only one day visit but we have seen enough. The first thing we did and we really were very excited about it was to meet Lola!, their puppy, soooo lovely!! then, during the morning, we went to Malahide castle, it was raining so we couldn't visit it properly, at least, we had some time to play in the wonderful playground that it has. Then, we went and had a wonderful lunch in Quay's restaurant, in front of temple sq and finallly, we went sightseeing for the city, we met Molly Malone and the temple bar, some of the major streets. It was great for a flash visit! maybe we come back some other day, we'll see. Enjoy the pics, today sorry but no video.
HOla a tothom
today is Saturday. time to do a little visit around, we have packed the gilrs in an early bus to Dublín and the rest of the family decided to go to Secret Valley with Escolà-Llarden family. It is located in Wexford county and it a farm with different kind of animals, from a giant turtle to some sheeps, rabbits, spiders, millipedes, some snakes, goats, a hedgehog, etc, etc...
we have visited the farm, played with the tractors, treasure hunted a hidden Word, played in the playground and fed the animals and rode a pony ahhhhhh and how to forget: holding a snake??? ooohsshhghh
kids simply have loved it!
today is Friday and we have only a plan, to visit the Dumbrody ship (the famine ship) in New Ross, it's an afternoon plan and in the morning, iolanda spents her time shopping in the supermarquet and Pere and the kids playing a chess game with some Irish boys in the city....good plan, isn't it??
so, once the morning was over, we went to New Ross in the afternoon, Iolanda had already visited it last year and she liked the ship and its history a lot. It was difficult for to follow the guide explanations but more or less we could guess about its history. A ship where a lot of Irish left the land because of the potato crisis and the huge famine that was spreading through the country. A ship which travelled to America in horrible conditions for those without many money and with many casualties. You were given a paper with some names and you had to find where you slept and if you had died at the end. It was a nice visit and we could take nice pictures and wonderfult videos, enjoy it!
how you doing? here??? we??? we are having a blast!!! Last Thursday was really, and plainly amazing! without having much idea about it we decided to head to the Ring of Hook, we were sure we wanted to visit the lighthouse and the Lofthus hall (a haunted house) but... we found a lot more... so much more!
The Ring goes through the Hook península, and we have several stops, we started visiting Tinter Abbey, wowww just wooooww... the abbey, the river, the bridge and the sorroundings, it had to be a 10 min visit and it ended being an hour and a half one. (you will see it in the pictures), kids also enjoyed it because there was kind of a haunted forrest with skulls, animal prints and hidden semi-castles... simply amazing!
Then, we headed to a bay, Banginbun head, the beach was great eventhough we couldn't bath obviously because as usual, it was freezeng but the scenery, fantastic! again
After that we decided the next stop would be the lighthouse, we went to have lunch there, it was funny because it was so windy we had to take our scarfs! everything was flying.. so much fun! the lighthouse and the sorroundings were astonishing, really, you have to go! we would never forget it.
Then, the masterpiece, everybody was excited because we went and visited the Lofhus Hall, the most haunted house in Ireland, lot's of stories from Anne, the Little gosht girl that apparently still lives in the house...jeje... from the outside, you can get an idea of the terrific house, but we couldn't take any pictures from the inside . It was frightening but not as much as we were expecting.. we survived! jejej
finally, we spent some more time around, playing in a playground we found on the road home and we avoided so many other places that maybe we are going to do it again another day!
Hope you enjoy the pics and the video and you can get an idea of how nice it is everything here!
Bona
nit!!
podeu imaginar.
I
Home,.. sols no
Espero
que us agradin les fotos i el video que us hem preparat!
today has been a very quiet day, in the morning we went shopping and then in the afternoon, we tried to spent some good time in Tramore (in the beach), well... let's say at the end we had some great time but we got really frozen! jajaja, it was so windy and so rainy and so..everything but sunny.
Not the perfect day to go to the beach 😭😭
(the last 3 videos have been edited by Iol.. jeje.. I guess some of you had already suspected it!, ajaja)
Bon dia familia,
today it's Tuesday and since everybody is telling us is going to be a nice day we have decided to spend it in the beach. So, first hour in the morning, we have prepared our picnic and drove towards Dunmore East. Once there, we went to the beach but....... no, we couldn't bath... not at all, even the good weather, the water was freezing! so, we spent the morning building sand castles and enjoying the views.
The best, our picnic lunch, we were sitting in a park in front of the sea... wonderful scenery, something we will never forget! enjoy the pics!!
Bona tarda a tots, amics i família,
platja, ens n'hem anat a Dunmore East.
Today? in the morning, we have done nothing special but prepare the big party we were going to held in the evening! Yes, a party!! so, we invited our friends from Ireland (Linda, Trevor and Deirdree) and we also invited our friends from Catalonia (Mar and Alba, Marta, David and their kids) and we also welcomed a friend from Madrid (Bea) and all together we spent a lovely evening having a typical Catalan dinner!! take a look at the pics
Heii,
(nyyammmiiii)
here we are again, today is Sunday and you know what? we are going to pick up our girls from Enniscorthy, they really want to come back.. .jaja...so, we said goodbye to Evi and Judith and we headed to Enniscorthy in the morning. Once there, we picked up the girls and we decided to visit Wexford city but...Pere (while driving) saw a sign of the National Heritage Museum and we decided to stop and pay it a visit. OMG! it was amazing, really interesting. We took the guided tour (eventhough you can do it by yourself), the guide was really good, he was interacting with us all the time, we discovered how Stone aged people lived, how were the houses of the early Christian times, etc... it is really beautiful and we find challenges for kids as well so they get amused! we tried archery and we stopped for a little playing in a parc so, we couldn't have asked for anything else, that's how we spent our Sunday, hope you enjoy the pics and the video!
Eooo,
OMG! quina passada
us pengem
What a lovely Saturday we have had!!!, Saturday morning we waited for Evi and Judith (from Dublín) to come and visit us, we were a little bit excited to see them, once they arrived, we spent such a great time with them! they are really GREAT!!
we had lunch and then, we headed to Four Lake Stables, near Tramore, where we had a class of horse riding, we (parents) had no idea how It was, we though it was an indoor class with a teacher (the same way Ian had it in Wales) but not, and with surprising eyes we saw how Ian and Pere got up in a horse (really huge horses) and went away (ALONE!), Pere was so excited, he couldn't hide it! everybody was laughing at him, it was great to see him like this.
So, there they went, 50min away from their parents on a horse, riding in the woods, I couldn't believe it! When they came back, they were trotting! (OMG, I couldn't believe it) Pere was trotting, laughing and enjoying it a lot, he was not a little bit scared, the scary thing was that once they arrived, they didn't want it to finish and wanted another ride! jajaajja
Anyway, we could convice him by telling him we were going to do it another day, and we could head to Kilkenny were Marta and David were waiting for us. We spent the afternoon and everning there, in the castle playing with the kids. After too much playing, we went to have dinner in Supermack's and we finished our Saturday with a smile and some beers in the sofa while chatting with Judith and Evi, it was a really nice Saturday!
DONCS.. GENÍALISSIMMMMM
Ei... of couse soccer is not everything! jajaja.. although some people in my family haven't got the same opinión! but during this week we have also done some other excursions (around the cottage), we have discovered a haunted castle (uooouuu), we have played games with our neighbourgs and we have visited some stables and activity centres with Pere. See if you can get an idea with the pictures below!
so sorry, we haven't updated this blog since one week ago. In fact, this has been the most productive week as far as learning English is concerned! Ian started his soccer camp on the 17th July, he wa SOOOO EXCITED! he went there, he didn't know anyone and despite everything he enjoyed so much that he wanted to find another camp to go another week more. Unfortunately, the camps we found were really far away and it was impossible for us to drive him there everyday so, he is a little bit sad for it!. He made a lot of friends, he played a lot of soccer, what else he can ask for? jajaa
Meanwhile, the girls (Aleida and Mireia) were in Enniscorthy, county Wexford. Again, improving their English and making new friends. And the youngest one? Pere? well, we have spent the week looking for horses to ride! jajaaj
we went and visited some stables, and by Saturday, there was a surprise!!! (keep on reading to discover it) 😉 During the week, we've met different people, Lily (our neighbourg) and her cousins, we have been playing Hide and Seek and a Water Fight with them.
Ahhh and we cannot forget it! we went and visited Linda and Trevor on Wednesday (my host family from last year, we also met with Mar and Alba... we spent the afternoon and part of the evening with them!, they met my family and it was such a lovely evening! they are really great!!)
Hola a tothom,
Today is Sunday and we have to say bye to our wonderful 'tates' for a week. Yes! they are going to Enniscorthy, to Ger's house for a week of English immersion. Hope they enjoy it and take advantadge of this time to improve their English and learn a lot of new things!
We drove them to Enniscorthy in the morning, it took us some time to find the house but at the end, we arrived. Ger was really nice, she is going to be a great tutor, for sure! the house is another cottage, next to an organic farm in the middle of the fields.
Once we left them, we drove back to Kilkenny, there we wanted to visit an open market where you could buy some ancient tools. In between, we made a stop because we found a beautiful village, there were some nice pics and a children's park where we spent some time playing. Take a look at the photos and video we have prepared.! We finished our day in the market and my Pere was really happy when he could buy some 'new' tools for La Granja Pifarré! ❤❤❤
Holaaaa...
And here we are again, On Friday, it was such a complete day that when we left the Greenan Maze we wanted to pay a visit to Glendalough. I had heard about this celtic village when I was in Kilkenny last year and I wanted to visit it. Children decided to stay in the car but Pere and me went around it and discovered beautiful sites and amazing information, it was built around the s.VIII century!. You can get an idea of the place by taking a look at the video we've done! Enjoy!!!
Disfruteu!
wowwwww.... what a wonderful day we have spent. Today big big excursion. We have woken up motivated, we have prepared a big picnic lunch and we drove to the county of Wicklow where there is an amazing place called the Greenan Maze (it has a rhyme.. jejeje).
1h and 30 journey, the roads amazing as always we were driving through the countryside of Ireland. When you arrive there, you have to pay an entry (as usual.....), it cost around 40 euros in total but today it was worth it to pay it. In the Greenan Maze, once you arrive they give you (well... to your children... a treasure hunt). In it, you have the first clue and you need to look for the next one (the first clue indicates you where can you find the next one... so, in this way you visit all the different places that you can visit in this area). There is a BIG AND HUGE MAZE (amazing!), we got so lost! jajja... me (mainly..jajaja). We made two teams (boys and girls) and we started to run, at the end, everybody was going alone (buf... Pere Jr wanted to go alone as well... we couldn't find him... he kept on hiding everywhere ..jajajjaa). The absolut winner was Ian (of course... he's got a talent for these things) and the absolute loser was me (of course..jjaja.. i've got a talent for this too..jaaja).
In the middle of the maze, there was the second clue. We won't tell you where to find the other just in case you plan to go there some time. But, then we took the fairy path, a path where you had to keep an eye on the clues fo the treasure hunt but also on the fairy houses you had to find, everytime you spotted one, you had to circle the name of the house in your treasure hunt paper. The path lead us to a farm where there was a museum (Joan Pifarré you absolutely would have loved it!!, everybody was thinking about you!), there was a farm museum (a typical farm house as in ancient times) and there were some animals such as: ducks, horses, pigs, geese, hens, donkies, etc..), there was a tea room as well where you could buy some handmade cookies and cakes. And finally, following the path again you went inside a beautiful forrest where you had some more clues and some more fairy houses to find as well as amazing views (ponds, trees, butterflies, etc..). It IS A PLACE defenitely worth to see with your kids!!
Hola a tothom,
I know, I know.. so many days without publishing ... sorryyyy... we've been really busy and haven't got the time. Today we are trying to update the missing entries.
On Thursday, 13th we were woken up but another rainny day, it was very cloudy so we decided to spend our morning in the indoor swimming-pool. It's in Tramore (where everybody goes to the beach) and the swimming-pool has got some slides- the tube ones like in aquapark-, a waves pool and other games for children.
It was fun but maybe not to come back another day because the price is a little bit expensive (8 euros per person... mmmm... for a couple of hours... we thought it wasn't worth it). We couldn't take any pictures in the pool so we've only got this pic of the main entrance. 😢
Ei amics,
Ho sé, Ho sé... massa dies sense publicar res,.... sorryyyy... hem estat molt ocupats i no hem tingut el temps per a poder fer-ho.
😢 (us perdeu els nostres súper cuerpazos en bikini..jeje)
Today no more Waterfod, at least not the city. We have been exploring things outside the city but in the same county. Not far from us (20-30min max) we have discovered fairies, amazing landscapes and beautiful animals. If you are in the sorroundings and you have a mid morning or afternoon, everything we did it's worth a visit!
So, in the morning, we went to the Suir Valley Railway, a railway station and train created and maintained by volunteers. It is a small trail but with plenty of things to discover: kids have a treasure hunt to do, with fairy houses in the trees included! The views are stunning, really...you can't see any of these in Catalonia. Ohh.. by the way, on Wednesdays you can have a picnic with some cartoon characters, as well (pere and Ian were so happy with their friends!).
In the afternoon, we decided to complete our day by going to the Mahon Falls (yesterday was a lovely and sunny day). The waterfalls are not far away, 30min by car. The road trip ..buff.. how to describe it!... tunnels of trees were invading the roads, we wanted to record the feeling of driving through them but it was really difficult, maybe you can appreciate it a little bit in the video. Anyway, the Mahon Falls are very accessible for family, an easy path brings you there and between the path: goats and sheeps around welcome you. The Falls are not very impressive (we have seen bigger) but nice enough to pay them a visit. We could take some beautiful pics!! 😆
Hola família i amics,
No molt lluny d'on estem allotjats (uns 20-30 min en cotxe màxim) hem descobert fades, paisatges increïbles i animalets.
Eii hello everybody, Today it has been boring ... no, joking! it seemed a boring day because it was raining, a lot!, but at the end, it ended being a very exciting one! In the morning, we went and visited Bohemian's F.C, where Ian is going to train next week, we met the couch and the fields, he was really excited and wanted to play right away! Then, we came back to the Park, we wanted to meet with Daniel (his English friend) but cause it was raining, nobody was there. Anyway, we spent some time in the games and had a lot of fun, really! After that, we went and visited the library, it should have been a 10min visit but they loved it so much that we stayed there 45 min while the girls were shopping for the city. In the afternoon, we explored the sorroundings of the house and we discovered a rabbit's hole! but, we couldn't see any horses... that was a shame because we wanted to give them an apple and at the end, Pere ate it (of course 😤)
Eii hola a tothom!,
Cap problema, ens hem ficat a jugar tota la family (nenes incloses) i ens ho hem passat realment bé!, (fent animalades, clarament). 😤)
Today, raining day, we have had time to visit the tourist information centre and we have planned the visits for the week. To finish our morning, we have played and enjoyed in People's park, in Waterford, the kids have loved it and they've met some new friends. Ian met a boy called Daniel, they played all the time together and communicated pretty well! He is learning so fast.... 😊 and Pere, ..well... Pere... tried it! He met a girl, she was called Amber but Pere tried to communicate with her with his own English language, it was something like this: "watchwachawachachu", the girl got scared and left. Jajaja
Yesterday 9th we visited our sorroundings: Waterford city. It was surprising to know that Waterford is the most ancient city in Ireland. You can see it in the streets along the Viking circle, it also has a nice harbour and it was amazing to watch it from the car as we were arriving. You can also appreciate the wall art (graffitis) that are displayed in some of its streets. We couldn't watch them all but the ones we saw, they were really good. And the best, we came back to the cottage without being lost!, jaja... (we weren't so sure about it... 😉)
Bona nit a tothom,
well, our second day was spent between France and Ireland and in between, the huge Ferry from Brittany ferries. (Really, it was pretty impressive! 👀)
The day started with the visit in Nantes, we had lunch in the hotel and then, we drove to Roscoff, 3h and 30 min journey and we arrived. It was quite fast so before 9 we were inside the ferry, there weren't as many cars as in the previous occation in Bilbao, that's why we didn't have to wait a lot of time to get in.
Once inside, we located our cabins and we took advantadge of time (game room, views, and exploring in general). We had dinner and finally, we went to sleep (it was around 11-12 at night). The sailing was ok, no big waves and we could sleep well. Once in the morning, breakfast and we arrived at/in Cork around 10 am.
Very excited we started to journey to Waterford, we were amazed for the views from the car and the roads, it's so, so green!
Pere decided to stop at a pub to have some lunch, it was a great decision cause the food was great and the service excellent. After having lunch ,we played in the field and we went to a nearby supermarket. Around 4.30 pm (after having been lost for half an hour 😤) we found the cottage. (Really, it's hidden, no way we could have found it without rescue.. jeje). Once in the house, buff... unpacking (really annoying) but, anyway, now everything is settled and we can start enjoying!! Hope you like the video and the images we have prepared for you!
big kiss to everybody.
This year it has been a little bit different because our ferry left to Ireland from Roscoff (France), this means we have had two days journey by car and ...well.. how to say it... kids!
It has been great but travelling with those little monsters (they are not aleida or Mireia) can be really stressing. We've managed it but we'll think about it for next time.. jeje
1 day travelling through France (Loire, Bretagne, etc..) et nous sommes arrivées a Nantes, there we slept and we did some sightseeing. We were really surprised by this city, lots of possibilities to do with kids (so, problably we'll come back some day). At the end, two options: Aleida and Mireia went sightseeing for the city and the kids and us went to the Ile des Machines, a very interesting amusement park created having Jules Verne in mind (he was born in Nantes) and Leonardo Da Vinci. A combination of both and voilà! a very funny place with machines that can be ridden (the huge elephant), very original and something you can't find anywhere else!
Hola a tothom,
etc.) i vam arribar a Nantes. Allà vam dormir i vam fer algunes
combinació d'ambdós i voilà!
altre lloc. A must see!
That's it! here we are again, ready to start a new adventure, the whole family + a very special person for us, our cousin Mireia!
After some stressful weeks, arranging everything, preparing our minds and souls, today we start again a special trip, to improve our English but also to learn about life and cultures. This year, we are travelling to Ireland, a very special country for my husband and me: full of life, beautiful people, amazing sorroundings and wonderful opportunities. it's going to be an exciting adventure and if you want and feel in the mood, you can always follow our steps through this blog where we are going to post daily and show you everything we discover and experience during this month!
